Are you looking to invest in a rental property or multiple properties, but you’re not sure where to start? One of the first steps you should take is finding a REALTOR who is knowledgeable about investment properties and property management. A good REALTOR can help you find the right property, negotiate the best price, and manage the property once you’ve purchased it. Here are some tips on how to find one to help you succeed in the world of investment properties.

  1. Look for a REALTOR with experience in investment properties. When it comes to investment properties, you want a REALTOR who knows the ins and outs of the market. Look for someone who has experience working with investors and has a track record of success in finding and managing rental properties. Better yet, hire someone who OWNS investment properties.
  2. Choose a REALTOR who is familiar with the area in which you’re interested. It’s important to work with someone familiar with the area you’re looking to invest. They should be able to provide valuable insights on things such as the local rental market, property values, and potential tenants.
  3. Find a REALTOR familiar with property management. Most either do property management themselves or know someone who will do a good job managing for you. Investing in a rental property is not just about buying the property – it’s also about managing it.
  4. Look for a REALTOR who is responsive and communicative. A good agent will be responsive to your needs and questions, and will keep you updated throughout the process. You need someone proactive; who’s always looking for a good deal for you in which to invest.
  5. Get recommendations from friends and family. One of the best ways to find a good REALTOR is through personal recommendations. Ask friends and family members who have experience with investment properties for their recommendations.
  6. Choose someone who puts the REAL in REALTOR. You need to hear the bad as well as the good, no matter what type of property you’re interested in buying. This is especially important with rental property. If they just see you as a commission and don’t think of the long -term relationship and what’s in your best interest, you could be buying a huge anchor rather than a wise investment.

Real estate investing can be rewarding financially, but take your time and DO YOUR HOMEWORK. As I always say, these properties aren’t without work, but they can be a GAME CHANGER in retirement. Happy hunting!
