I would like to write that selling you a home was what I do, but really I'm committed to selling Vermillion–this is beneficial for buyers, sellers and investors! Vermillion is one of those amazing gems that unfolds for you as soon as find a home to suit your needs. I have experience with all aspects of real estate from personally owning investment homes and buildings, working with first-time home buyers, buying and selling commercial property, and working with older and historic homes. I came to USD in 1997 and chose to stay and make Vermillion my home. I ran a business for several years before becoming a Realtor and Property Manager and I have a daughter that I couldn't imagine raising in any other town. So when asked to write details about myself and experience, it's impossible not to include some of my favorite things about Vermillion that influence how I work with clients while incorporating community involvement. Not only is finding a great house important, but finding a great community is equally important.
We have the University of South Dakota that in itself offers a wide variety of events. If you love sports, our Coyotes are a treat to watch–from our triathletes, our National Champion pole vaulter, the Summit League champions of women's basketball and volleyball, or great Saturday football–they have you covered! If you enjoy music, arts and theater, their School of Fine Arts offers the best of what's around with a diverse department, the rotating John Day Gallery, and such musical groups as the Rawlins Trio.
Outside of campus, Vermillion is a bustling community. Our Historic Downtown Vermillion is full of entertainment and local restaurants. The local theater is a 'Community-owned non-profit' that has an art gallery inside and offers many events outside of regular showings. They work in coordination with the library to offer free kids movies through-out the summer and on early-out days at school. Our library is another gift to the town with all of their after school programs, reading hours, and book clubs. They have a fire place inside where you can cozy-up with a good book in the winter. The AV Lounge is our newest music venue downtown. Not only can you see live music on the regular, they bring comedic acts and local charity events, too. Along with downtown, we have the National Music Museum on the campus of USD. the South Dakota Shakespeare festival in Prentis Park in June, Prentis Plunge for those hot summer days, and the Bluffs Golf Course with a beautiful layout above AND below the bluff.
If you want to enjoy the outdoors there are several trails in the area. Vermillion is located only six miles from the Missouri River. This section of the river is undeveloped and naturally beautiful for you to enjoy. Clay County Park has a hard surface two and a half mile path with benches along the way for bird watching, a boat ramp, and a campground. In the winter this is a great place to snow shoe and cross-country ski. Spirit Mound is six miles north of town and has a mile and a half trail to the top where you can gaze for miles. Cotton Park along the Vermillion River offers a walking trail and dog park for the pooches, and Mulberry Bend Overlook offers views of the Missouri River Valley and a mile trail.
We can't wait to meet you and help with all your real estate needs!
